Sar\u0131 Konak Kad\u0131n Kooperatifi is established in Kastamonu with the partnership of the Kastamonu Municipality in December 2018. The organization is a women-only cooperative with 50 registered members\/partners. The purpose of the organization is to increase women employment and to empower women through the business initiatives which focuses on the economic, cultural, and social needs of the members\/partners of the organization. The main motivation behind the establishment of the organization is to strengthen women in the region and to help regional development by producing, developing, and promoting local goods, products, and cultural heritage elements.<\/p>

The main area of production is the food production based on \u2018Einkorn wheat\u2019 (Siyez Bulguru) \u2013 Geographically Marked Product-\u00a0 which is a naturally produced regional\/local wheat known with its health improving characteristics as a best alternative to wheat. Secondary area of production is based on the textile that is designed with local motives of the region with a modern touch. The main techniques used in textile production are region specific \u2018Ta\u015f Bask\u0131\u2019 (lithograph) and \u2018T\u0131rnak Ba\u011f\u0131\u2019 (nail tie).<\/p>

What are the organisation\u2019s activities in the field of this application?<\/strong><\/p>

The main activity is the production of the \u2018Geographically marked products\u2019 and improvement of the regional products by the use of women labour to strengthen them and to help regional development.\u00a0 Since 2018, the organization presents the region with the products produced by women partners with region specific touches in a variety of National Festivals and Fairs.<\/p>

The cooperative participates to two different national projects in the area of agriculture and agricultural goods.<\/p>

\u2018Elderberry Cultivation Project\u2019 and \u2018Buckwheat Cultivation Project\u2019<\/p>

\u00a0are initiated together with the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture in 2021 and continues. Within the scope of the project, women members\/partners are educated about the elderberry cultivation, the scope of the use of Elderberry and the innovative ways of production of the agricultural products. Different versions of healthy and natural snacks are produced from these agricultural goods and\u00a0 being started to sell around the country through direct and online selling platforms.<\/p>

The group consists of unemployed women and small-scale business owner women, between the ages of\u00a0 30-70.<\/p>
