Proposed Activity

Kastamonu University hosted the final activity of our project in Kastamonu in Türkiye in September 2024 for six days, including travel days. Along with Kastamonu Sarı Konak Women Initiative Production and Business Cooperative, we chose five unemployed and disadvantaged women with fewer chances of facing socio-economic challenges or any other potential source of discrimination in Kastamonu. The other partners selected their women as well to learn about the ecological approach and the importance of environmental consciousness before practicing ECO-PRINT.

Two representatives from our partner, the Association for Cultural and Educational Development YOUTH ON BOARD and two representatives from Kastamonu University, and one representative from Kastamonu Sarı Konak Women Initiative Production and Business Cooperative participated in the activity. This activity lasted in six days, including welcoming, introducing the ECO-PRINT, field trips, workshops, and visiting natural parks and cultural events.

The results of the activity were to;

  • certify the compulsory domestic work done by unemployed and disadvantaged women, to turn this disadvantaged situation into an advantage for them.
  • contribute to increasing the employment of disadvantaged women through education.
  • empower women in careers, entrepreneurship, digital skills, and financial literacy through education and ensure their participation in social and economic life.
  • create a strong social education network for women.
  • encourage women to develop themselves by providing professional and personal development training

As soon as the activities within the scope of our project were completed, news texts about the activity were created, photos and videos, if any, were prepared, shared with the Kastamonu University Press and Broadcasting Consultancy, and shared on the Kastamonu University website as soon as possible. The sharing of the news of our project on our university website became the center of attention in both local and national press. The project activities were shared separately in both local newspapers and national newspapers in different provinces of Turkey. This sharing increased the recognition and visibility of our project, especially the importance of the ecological approach we emphasized regarding ecoprint.

Local television channels were also interested in our project. When we announced the event in Kastamonu, the officials from T37 channel reached out to us and requested the agenda we had prepared for the event. According to the agenda, they participated in the ECO-PRINT on ceramics event at the
Faculty of Design and Art at KU. They interviewed our project manager, the representative from Warsaw University of Life Sciences, and a participant from Youth on Board. We had the opportunity to exhibit our ECO-PRINTed products in Kastamonu, where students from primary school, secondary school, high school, and university; representatives of institutions and organizations; and representatives from the private sector working on textile products, women’s cooperatives, and women entrepreneurs attended.
